MEME Module 1 Lesson 1 (Free) – English
Join Arif and Little Ele on an interactive journey through the forests and plantations of Malaysia, where you’ll uncover the deep-rooted history of elephants, the challenges they face today, and the pressing need for coexistence.
In this lesson, you will:
1. Understand the evolutionary history, species, and distribution of Asian elephants, particularly in Malaysia.
2. Explain the major threats facing Asian elephants, including habitat loss, fragmentation, and human-elephant
conflict.
3. Describe the causes and consequences of human-elephant conflict for both humans and elephants.
4. Explore practical approaches to coexistence through real-world examples and collaborative initiatives.
Before beginning the lesson, learners are required to complete the Participant Consent Form and Pre-Assessment Lesson 1. All learners are kindly requested to complete the form before beginning the lesson. You’ll have the opportunity to indicate whether or not you wish to participate in the study within the form itself.
The development of the lesson is made possible through the generous support of Yayasan Sime Darby and the University of Nottingham Malaysia. The project is made even more meaningful as it is part of the Ministry of Finance’s Malaysia initiative under Belanjawan MADANI 2025.
